Fox Soccer Channel to Televise Army-Navy Men's Soccer Game

Aug. 18, 2008

ANNAPOLIS, Md. -- One of America's greatest rivalries will once again take center stage, as the Fox Soccer Channel has announced that Navy's clash with Army will be part of its 2008 NSCAA College Game of the Week schedule. The game will be played at West Point, N.Y., on Friday, November 7, beginning at 8:00 pm (ET).

The broadcast will mark the third time in the last four years that a Navy soccer game will be televised. In 2005, the Mids defeated Army, 4-2, on the CBS College Sports Network, while last year, Navy edged Air Force, 1-0, also on the CBS College Sports Network. Both games were played in Annapolis.

Navy leads the all-time series with Army, 35-26-13, but Army has won two games in a row. The series has been remarkably competitive the last few years, as the last two meetings have been decided in overtime and just 23 of the 74 all-time meetings have been decided by two or more goals.

The contest is the only Fox Soccer Channel matchup to involve Patriot League teams. Other contests include Maryland at UCLA (Aug. 29), Maryland at 2008 NCAA Champion Wake Forest (Sept. 26) and Dartmouth at Brown (Nov. 14). A game will be broadcast every Friday night from Aug. 29 to Nov. 14.

The Mids have started preseason camp and are coming off a 7-8-2 record in 2007. Navy has played one exhibition game, defeating the St. Vincent and Grenadines Olympic Team, 2-1, on Aug. 13. Navy's second exhibition game will take place on Aug. 23, at James Madison, beginning at 2:00 pm. Navy's Aug. 15 exhibition game with William & Mary was postponed due to thunderstorms.

Season tickets are available for Navy home soccer games, beginning at just $60 (men's and women's tickets included). For ticket information, please call 1-800-US4-NAVY.
